Porter High School Percussion |
Members of the Porter High School Percussion Section perform in all major performing ensembles including the Spartan Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concert Band.
During its history, Porter Percussion has participated in Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) and Winter Guard International (WGI) as part of the PHS Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble. Established in 2013, the Porter High School Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble established itself as one of the most competitive and award winning units in the Houston Area, consistently ranked among the very best indoor percussion groups in the State of Texas. In the Spring of 2024, Porter Percussion continued its evolution as an ensemble by moving away from the competitive indoor marching circuits and is now focusing on concert percussion ensemble during the spring semester. With its inaugural performance on April 30, 2024, PHS percussion held a percussion solo and ensemble concert that featured performances from students across the PHS cluster of schools. Porter Percussion Students also are extremely active in the TMEA All-Region, All-Area and All-State Auditions as well as the Texas UIL Solo and Ensemble Contests. Percussion Students from Porter High School consistently earn chairs in the TMEA Region 33 Bands and advance to the Texas UIL State Solo and Ensemble Competition. |
