Marching Band

The Porter High School, Spartan Marching Band, is one of the largest and most successful organizations at Porter High School.  With multiple appearances at the UIL Area Marching Finals, and a 2017 Appearance at the Texas UIL State Marching Contest, the Spartan Marching Band is definitely a great organization to be a part of if you enjoy playing really energetic music and performing for large crowds in a highly competitive environment!

Concert Band

The Porter High School Band is made up of several separate classes that are ability based and meet throughout the school day.  Every class is held to the same standard of excellence and all classes are expected to perform and rehearse at a Varsity level even if the level of music they are playing is not quite the same as the upper level music that our Varsity ensemble is performing.  During the fall semester, ALL classes perform the SAME music as part of our Spartan Marching Band!

Percussion

The Porter High School Percussion Section is a highly competitive ensemble that performs as part of all Concert Bands, The Spartan Marching Band and also as the Porter High School Indoor Drum Line which is a separate unit that competes each spring semester.  Members of the PHS Percussion Section compete in the TMEA All Region process, UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, as well as all other full band competitions.

Ascension Visual

Ascension Visual is the primary visual component to the Spartan Marching Band incorporating contemporary dance elements and training with the more traditional color guard elements that most marching band fans are accustomed to seeing in a competitive program!  AV performs at ALL pep rallies, football games, and marching contests!  In addition to their duties as a major component of our fall marching show, AV members compete as a separate team in the spring semester as part of the Texas Color Guard Circuit!
